Manchester top table despite late stupidity

Manchester Youth under 17s enjoyed a 4-0 victory over Boundary Park Juniors at the weekend.

Jack Lyons who had signed from Boundary in the summer had the 1st chance when he headed just over from a Sam Freakes cross.

Then Robert Froggatt in the Manchester goals had to make a sharp save from Boundary's Jack Clarke.

This time it was the big boot of goalkeeper Froggatt that pierced the defence of Boundary. They couldn't deal with a very long kick out and Jamie Mack ran onto the bouncing ball to slip the ball under the Boundary keeper.

Realising that Boundary had a problem in the air at the back, Manchester made a conscious effort to take a more aerial route in attack.

And it was just a matter of time when a huge throw in by Curtis Williams was headed into his own net by Clarke under all sorts of pressure from Manchester's centre back John Buckley and Jack Lyons.

The second half was the same story with Manchester really bombing forward and Boundary scrapping to stay in the game.

A smart passing move started by Barry Davies then Mark Reeves lead to Osahon Osawe slipping a through ball to Mack who rounded the keeper to score a third and that was game over as a contest.

Mack scored a fourth to claim his hat-trick. The result was not in doubt - so it was a surprise when first Manchester's Justin Hayden reacted to a bad tackle then Alex Sutcliffe made an horrendous tackle that really soured the end a game.

All the good football was undermined for the supporters by two bits of stupidity as the lads went top of the league for the first time this season.
