Run chase falls short

THORNHAM fell just short of their winning target in a Lancashire County League match against Woodbank last Saturday. But they did pick up a point.

Shah scored an unbeaten 113 as Woodbank posted a total of 216. Chandi Kumara took five for 66.

James Burke hit 57 in Thornham's reply, while useful contributions came from Robin Jackson (28 not out) and Steve Grey (22). But the overs ran out with Thornham on 190 for seven.

THORNHAM seconds were dismissed for 128 by their Woodbank counterparts.

Darren Grant scored 36 and Andy Micklethwaite hit 25.

Woodbank were shot out for 73. Ian Heywood took three for 40, and Andy Yates mopped up the tail with three wickets for no runs.

Will Doyle took four for 34 as Thornham thirds bowled out Robinsons seconds for 102. Jim Carnegie made 36 as Thornham reached their target for the loss of seven wickets.

The thirds went down to Failsworth seconds by four wickets on Sunday, although only two overs were left when Failsworth reached their target of 121.

Luke Whitehouse (24), Will Doyle (23) and Keith Walmsley (22) were best with the bat on the day.
