German date for quartet

Boxing

FOUR lads from Northside Amateur Boxing Club have been chosen for the North West team which will fight in Chemnetz, Germany, next month.

They are Mark Heffron (48 kilos), Terry Flanagan (51 kilos), Anthony Leake (64 kilos) and Karl Place (57 kilos).

They add to the honour gained by Middleton's James Barker who fought for England against Ireland in Dublin last Friday night.

Northside recently staged another successful annual show.

Mohammed Hussein (Northside) beat Patrick Keenan (Ardwick Lads) referee stopped contest in round two.

Jake James (Northside) beat Sabaz Mohammed (Stoke) on points.

Mike McDonnell (Northside) beat Adrian Price (Birmingham) on points.

Dillon Blackley (Northside) lost to J Smith (Tower Hill, Liverpool) on points.

Thomas Stubbs (Northside) lost to Kieran Farrell (Birmingham) on points.

Warren Pridding (Northside) beat Lee Harnes (Shotton) on points.

Karl Kirkham (Northside) beat Thomas Devine (Shotton) on points.

Callum De'Ath (Northside) beat John Bray (Lions) on points.

Terry Flanagan (Northside) beat Sam Wismiewski (Lancaster Boys) on points.

Anthony Leake beat Chris Betteridge (Preston) on points.

Blain Younis (Northside) beat Jason McArdle (Middleton Select) on points.

Darren Askew (Whitehaven) beat Tamao Dwyer (Barton) on points.

Warren Pridding received the trophy for best boxer of the night.

The Northside club has had plans passed for an extension to their gym.

This will mean more boxers, and more coaches needed for them between 6 and 8pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
