Celtic edge closer to title

LANGLEY Celtic edged closer to retaining the Middleton Sunday League's Premier Division title last Thursday night when they beat Langley Rangers 3-0.

The goals came from Neville, Bancroft and Worsley.

Blackley Alliance refuse to throw in the towel and stayed in contact with the toppers by beating Radclyffe Arms 5-2. Carter (2), Rea, Butler and Worsley saw them home. Crawther and Giblin netted for Radclyffe.

Lomas hit five as VASA beat struggling St Clares 9-0. Chappell, Crookes, Jones and Crossfield made up the total.

Blackley Alliance were also winners on Sunday. They hit three without reply in their away match against Alliance.

Hall, Worsley and Atherton shared the goals as Hebers beat Radclyffe Arms 3-2. Cook and Scott were the home scorers.

Thomas hit the back of the net twice as Division One leaders Cardinal Villa beat FC Radclyffe 3-1.

Premier Division: Langley Rangers 0, Langley Celtic 3; Radclyffe Arms 2, Blackley Alliance 5; VASA 9, St Clares 0.

Division Two: Woodman 6, Brunswick 1.
