Goodier looks good

WOODMAN look sure to win the Middleton Sunday League's Division Two title, providing they take the points from games in hand on arch rivals Dean Brook.

They took time off from league action last Thursday night to meet Premier Autobodies in a John Matthews Memorial Trophy tie which they won 4-1. Goodier (3) and Bonnar claimed their goals, Parnell replying.

Woodman were also in knockout action on Sunday when they lost 2-1 to Carters Rhodes in the Challenge Cup.

One of the most entertaining games on Sunday, that's if you were a neutral spectator, saw New Moston Legion and Railway and Linnet share 10 goals.

An own goal helped Division One leaders Cardinal Villa to a 3-2 home win over Crown Inn (Middleton).

Blackley Alliance also had the help of an own goal as they beat St Clares 3-0 in a Premier Division match. Bennett bagged the other two.
