COTTON Tree damaged the title hopes of Middleton Con Club in the Middleton Thursday League when they beat them 5-2.

Grove (Blackley) went to the top of the table with their 5-2 defeat of Lancashire Fold. Mark Holden led the way with a 12-darter.

Woodside beat Tonge Bowling Club 7-0. It was their second such victory in as many weeks.

Railway and Linnet extended their unbeaten run to five matches with a 6-1 success against Oddfellows.

Things are boiling up nicely towards a grandstand finish in the Middleton Ladies Mini League.

Apple and Pear, who have won all six of their matches, play Friendship A, who have won all seven, on Monday.

Both extended their unbeaten runs last week with wins over Jolly Carter and Hebers B respectively.

Brunswick have won all six of their matches in Division Two. Their latest success saw them beat Hebers 4-3.
