Villa hit for six as Barn enjoy a red-letter day

CARDINAL Villa, unbeaten in the Middleton Sunday League's Division One, took a bit of a battering last weekend when they met Red Barn in a Geoff Allen Memorial Trophy tie.

Goals from Hutton (2), Owen (2), Patchett and Widdall saw Barn to a 6-2 success.

Gibson bagged all three goals for Blackley Alliance who edged Inter Alliance by the odd goal in five in an HPS Challenge Cup tie. Irving claimed both for Inter Alliance.

Middleton Colts shared six goals with Railway and Linnett.

The only game played in the Premier Division saw O'Brien hit a hat-trick to lead Alliance to a 6-1 away win over VASA. Wilson and Duffy were the others on target for Alliance. Nathana replied.

Crown Inn were 4-2 away winners over Gardeners Arms in a Division One clash.

The Division Two encounter between New Moston Legion and Middleton Boys ended with six goals shared.

But there was nothing even as Dean Brook whipped Brunswick 6-0. Scorers were Turner (2), Heaton (2), Marshall and Dunne.
