Youth round off with cup success
20/12/2006
MANCHESTER Youth under 16s rounded off the year with a Manchester Youth League cup quarter-final against Middleton Dynamos.
It was expected to be a close contest, but Manchester took the lead after only two minutes when Osahon Osawe crossed for Ismet Akoya to bang home.
It became 2-0 when a clearance dropped right at the feet of Barry Davies who lifted the ball over the stranded keeper.
Manchester made it 3-0 when Jamie Mack latched onto a Sam Freakes' cross to tap in.
The goals continued to flow, and a Mack cross from the right was met perfectly by strike partner Akoya who headed home.
Tom Whiteman, playing at right back, intercepted a crossfield pass then sprinted 40m before delivering a pass for Akoya to strike home.
A great ball from Josh Parkinson found Ben McLoughlin who slipped in Jamie Wolden to slot home.
A Mark Reeves' strike from outside the box flew into a top corner of the net, and Freakes made it eight with a low sizzler.
Mack claimed the ninth and 10th, the second of those after he had rounded the keeper.
