ELEVEN matches into the Middleton Men's Monday League campaign and Railway gained their first success on the oche.
They beat Carters 5-2. It was a great turn round for the Townley Street men who were beaten 7-0 by Carters in September. That was one of six whitewashes suffered by Railway.
Ironically Carters won the crib match 2-1. It was their first win of the season on the table.
Only two points separate the top three on the darts table.
Gardners (Grimshaw Lane) beat neighbours Railway and Linnet 5-2 to stay half a point ahead of Woodman who were 6-1 winners over Lancashire Fold.
Two points behind the toppers are Joiners who enjoyed a terrific 7-0 win over Gardeners (Sandy Lane).
The first tied match of the Middleton Men's Thursday League season came when Cotton Tree entertained Boarshaw WMC. It ended 3-3 and a set.
Tree stayed top of the gallon contest with their seventh success in eight games.
Middleton Con Club are top of the main table after their 4-3 win over Woodside whose Jimmy Gill hit a 17-darter.
Four points cover the top five teams, with the leaders being chased by Higher Blackley Con Club, Cotton Tree, Railway and Linnet and Grove (Blackley).
The top-two battle in the Middleton Ladies League saw Apple and Pear beat Friendship A 4-3 to move within five points of the leaders.
At the other end of the table Hebers B won for the first time in 10 attempts. They beat Woodside 4-3.
Hebers A have a six-point lead over Nook in Division Two, but Nook have a game in hand. They meet on Monday night.
