Ruthless Manchester storm on in knockout

MANCHESTER YFC under 16s are through to the last 32 in the Manchester County Cup following a convincing 6-1 win over Dukinfield Youth.

Dukinfield were favourites to win this tie, but Manchester are no respectors of reputations.

Manchester were up for the game and won every 50-50 ball.

They opened the scoring when a Sam Freakes' corner cross was helped on by Justin Hayden and Jamie Mack pounced to poke home.

Jamie Mack had another chance but fluffed his shot, while Barry Davies also had a gilt-edged opportunity but saw his shot saved.

More chances went begging in the early part of the second half, but a second goal came after 15 minutes.

Ismet Akoya's effort was saved, but Mack flew in to knock the ball over the line.

Jamie Wolden was then introduced to the fray with instant results.

He beat the Dukinfield centre back and smashed the ball home.

With the game won and lost, and Dukinfield heads going down, a ruthless Manchester team put their opponents to the sword.

Akoya beat the keeper after his first header had rebounded off the bar, then Curtis Williams went on a good run and squared the ball to Reeves. He found Akoya and it was 5-0.

Mack completed his hat-trick before Joe Makin bagged a late consolation for Dukinfield.

Manchester have another cup tie on Sunday. They meet Boundary Park Juniors in a League Cup quarter-final at Smedley Playing Fields, Cheetham, kick-off 2pm.
