Slattery’s swift start seals success

ANDY Slattery started well in the Middleton Men's Thursday League.

He struck a nifty 16-darter in helping his Woodside team to beat Pleasant (Blackley) 6-1.

That was the score by which Railway and Linnet got the better of Lancashire Fold and by which Cotton Tree beat Tonge Bowling Club.

All three winning teams also enjoyed gallon successes.

Millbeck suffered their first defeat of the season in the Middleton Ladies' League. They were beaten 5-2 by Jolly Carter.

Hebers WMC B lost for the first time this season in Division Two. The Nook beat them by the odd set in seven.

This result left Friendship B clear at the top. They chalked up their fourth win - a 5-2 success against Nowster A.

Gardeners Arms (Grimshaw Lane) hold a two-and-a-half point lead over Woodman at the top of the Middleton Men's Monday League.

They beat Joiners 4-3 while Woodman enjoyed a 5-2 win over Railway and Linnet.

Third-placed Gardeners (Sandy Lane) were 6-1 victors over Lancashire Fold.

Old Cock celebrated their first success of the season. They won 4-3 at the Carters.
