Tribute to Graham

MEMBERS of Rochdale Triathlon Club pushed themselves to the limit in the Ironman Triathlon in Switzerland, earlier this month.

The event involves 2.4 mile open-water swim, a 112 mile bike ride and a 26.2 mile marathon run, one after the other, in a cut off time of 16 hours.

Rochdale's entrants undertook six months of intensive to ensure fitness levels were up to such a tough event.

The team were also faced with soaring temperatures of up to 34 degrees.

The 10 team-mates took part in this event to commemorate the loss of Graham 'Scouse' Richards, a fellow triathlete, friend and mentor.

Graham was from Middleton, but thought of Rochdale Tri as 'his family'.

He died of a massive coronary thrombosis at the age of 50, the result of an operation to repair his knee after a hit and run car incident last July.
