BOWLERS from all over the north west descended on Middleton last week for the annual Tonge classic competition.
After six weeks of intense matches the final, held at Tonge Bowling Club on Kenyon Lane on Friday night, brought together eight of the best sportsmen to battle it out on the green.
Dean Ferris from Stoke was crowned the winner and Jimmy Derby from Prestwich was named the runner up. Organiser Eric Bamford said: "It was great night. The club was packed with more than 200 people who came to watch the final.
"All the top bowlers in the north west were there. It was a wonderful night for the Tonge Bowling Club."
