Red letter day as Boys storm to win

MIDDLETON Boys under eights Red hosted Beechfield Storm in a Salford City cup tie.

It was soon obvious Middleton were fired up for this game.

They were 1-0 up at half time after pressure had resulted in an own goal.

Good saves denied Middleton a second until Allie Jones doubled the lead.

Jones then broke down the right and crossed for Luke Anderson to tap in.

Beechfield kept going but couldn't break down Boys' defence of Cameron Phillips and Jacob Berry.

Boys now play De La Salle at Littleton Road, Salford, on Saturday.

• BOYS' under 12s got back to winning ways with a comfortable 10-0 win over Heywood Rangers.

The scorers were Derren Lycett (3), Dominic Murphy (3), Ryan Murphy (2), Aaron Turner and Shaun Thomas.

Player of the match for Middleton was Aaron Turner who was excellent in midfield. Jason Slowe gave a good display on his debut in goal.

• MIDDLETON Girls' under 14s clinched the Oldham League title.

They have also won the League Cup and will go for a treble with the Challenge Cup still up for grabs.

Manager Phil Proctor has praised the players highly.
