Alliance extend lead at top of table

BLACKLEY Alliance got back into action in the Car Shop Middleton Sunday League last weekend and extended their lead at the top of the Premier Division to nine points.

Lees (2), Carter and Bennett scored their goals in a 4-1 away win over Langley Rangers for whom Hoolikan was on the mark.

Langley Celtic, the team in second place, with two games in hand, had their game postponed.

Radclyffe Arms are third, seven points in front of Alliance who have played two games less.

Radclyffe coasted to a 5-0 away win over Higher Blackley RBL. The strikes were shared by Gaskell, Brogden, Crowther, Brice and Giblin.

Division One leaders VASA were held to a 1-1 draw by lowly Royal Oak. Rigby netted for Oak and Edwards saved the day for the toppers.

Goodier (2) and Brown saw Hebers to a 3-2 home win over Crown. P Cannon and J Cannon replied.

Premier Autobodies claimed their second win of the season in Division Two when they beat Carters Rhodes 6-5. Birch and Omarey bagged two each for the winners whose other scorers were Longworth and Carney.

Goals from Hadelin and McElvaney earned FC Radclyffe a 2-2 away draw against The Charlestown.
