Colts hold on to top spot

MIDDLETON Colts under 12s met Rochdale St Clement's in what turned out to be an eventful fixture.

The Middleton lads started poorly and were punished by two goals.

Ryan Hughes was superb in defence for Middleton and scuppered many of Rochdale's chances.

A "different" Middleton team went out for the second half and dominated from the kick off.

They were strong, fast and determined and some good passing between the midfielders soon turned the game round.

Liam Ryder, who was outstanding throughout, scored two goals as did Tom McCarthy.

Another from Jake Fullerty put the points firmly in Middleton's bag and maintained their place at the top of the table.
