Mighty Quinn is top for the Reds

MIDDLETON Boys Reds under eights went into their away match against De La Salle Scorpions without several regular players.

But they started strongly and it took good defending to keep them at bay.

Middleton's first goal came from Bradley Cannon after some fine passing between Brett Quinn and Allie Jones.

Cannon completed his hat-trick and Quinn added another before half time.

Middleton played their keeper out in the second half and he went close to scoring a few times.

Allie jones claimed two goals before De La Salle rounded off the scoring with a consolation goal.

Player of the match was Brett Quinn.

Middleton Boys under 12s were away to Barr Hill.

Middleton started the better, with some good passing football, and a well earned goal from central midfielder Dominic Murphy put them in front.

Ryan Murphy and Derren Lycett went close to increasing the lead, but Middleton went into the break with a slender 1-0 lead.

Barr Hill started the second half stronger and put pressure on the Middleton defence. They equalised with a penalty.

This woke up Boys and in a frantic 10 minutes they scored three goals.

The first came from Derren Lycett who broke down the left and hit his shot over the keeper's head.

Middleton sent on Jordan McGuigan and he was at the near post to head home from a tight angle.

Lycett then popped up after a defence splitting through ball from Aaron Turner.

Joe Rogers went close before the game ended with Middleton 4-2 up.

Player of the match was Derren Lycett.
