Celtic through to County final
22/12/2005
LANGLEY Celtic have reached the final of the Manchester FA Sunday Shield at their first attempt.
They beat highly fancied Irlam MS 1-0 in a quarter-final then crushed Queen Anne 3-1 in a semi-final at the Manchester FA's County Ground.
Johnny Joyce opened the scoring with a brilliant freekick from 20-yard out.
Celtic played some fine football, with Taylor and Moses bossing midfield.
They made it 2-0 in the second half when Tudor headed home a Neville corner cross.
Queen Anne looked dangerous on the break, but Lomax and Tudor were brilliant in defence for Celtic.
A flowing move involving Taylor, Gavin and Neville took the ball to Joyce on the right. He wrong-footed his marker, cut inside and powered a shot past the keeper.
Queen Anne grabbed a late consolation.
Celtic will now play Grey Horse in the final at the County Ground on 2 February.
