Manchester YFC record intact

8/12/2005

THE Middleton-based junior football club Manchester YFC, trying to maintain their 100 per cent winning record in the Manchester Youth and Mini Soccer League under 15s played Barr Hill Lads Club of Salford on Sunday.

Manchester started well when a great sequence of passing resulted in Curtis Buckley hammering an unstoppable shot into the top corner after just four minutes.

Ismet Akoya drew the goalkeeper to slide it home the second three minutes later and soon after Barry Foster's shot was spilled by the keeper and Sam Freakes scored from the rebound.

Mark Stringer and Mark Reeves combined to set up Freakes for the fourth and Akoya made it 5-0 to Manchester.

A mix up at the back saw Hudson of Barr Hill take a snap shot which flew into the Manchester net leaving goalkeeper John Buckley with no chance.

Normal service was resumed only a minute later when Parkinson and Freakes combined down the left to set up Akoya for his hat-trick just on half time.

Five minutes after the break Akoya made it 7-1, Freakes grabbed his third for 8-1 and there were further goals for Danny Kendrick and Foster as Manchester capped their 10th successive win

Next up for Manchester Youth are last season's champions Boundary Park Juniors - with both teams unbeaten it should be a cracker.
