Alkrington learning the hard way

3/11/2005

Darts

ALKRINGTON crashed 8-2 to Darcy Lever on Sunday and skipper Mark Holden had no qualms about the outcome.

He and Steve Whitehead were Alkrington's only winners. Whitehead hit a 180 and Holden took out 148 in a 15-darter and 104 in an 18-dart leg of 501.

Holden said: "We can't complain. The better side won on the day, but remember, it is still a learning experience for a lot of our players."

Holden's Apple and Pear team beat Joiners 4-3 last week to stay top of the Middleton Men's Monday League.

They head Junction who were 5-2 winners over Carters, and Gardeners who beat Victoria by the same score.

Junction are the combined darts and crib leaders.

Spare a thought for Railway and Linnet. Beaten 7-0 by Woodman on the oche they lost 3-0 at crib. To add insult to injury they lost both Gallon games as well. They will enjoy better nights for sure.

Cotton Tree enjoyed a good night in the Middleton Thursday League.

They inflicted a first defeat of the season on leaders Kings Arms, by the odd game in seven.

Boarshaw WMC moved into second place with a 6-1 win over White House. Owen Glynn hit a 14-darter.

Carl Eastwood's 14-darter contributed to a 4-3 win for Catholic Club over Millbeck in Division Two.

Kings Arms made it eight wins on the bounce in the Middleton Ladies League. They beat Woodside B 5-2.
