Ryder gets his reward

27/10/2005

Football

MIDDLETON Juniors came out on top against Wardle Warriors.

For the first 20 minutes the teams were evenly matched.

But Shaun Ryder chased everything and was rewarded with the goal which had looked as if it would never come.

When Ryder drove the second home it looked like game over, but Wardle hit back to make the half-time score 2-1.

The second half saw Juniors at their best. With Dominic Heapy and Clayton Kilroy winning the midfield battle the ball was swept time after time to the feet of the front two Orford and Ryder.

A shot into a top corner from Orford set the tone for the second half. A fourth came when Aaron Whitehouse hit a superb through pass for Orford to chip the keeper.

From then on there was no stopping Middleton. Ryder drove home his third before Clayton Kilroy and Dominic Heapy finished off the scoring.
