Stars sparkle at Towncroft

SAJITH Fernando top scored with 57 as a Sri Lankan X1 totalled 175 for nine in a Twenty20 benefit match for the Middleton professional at Towncroft last Thursday night.
The Sri Lankan team was more or less as published.
Dharmasena scored 28, Bandarathileka scored 20, and Middleton's Kumara scored 20.
Most successful of the bowlers for a Rest of the World X1 was Werneth amateur Alan Durose who picked up three for five.
Rest of the World replied with 178 for four in 18.5 overs.
Werneth pro Heino Kuhn scored 59 and Crompton pro Saeed Anwar blasted 73.
Durose hit two sixes in his 28.
Others in the World team were former Lancashire and England player Chris Schofield who is now with Littleborough, Oldham pro Martin Smith, Todmorden pro Pandy and Heywood pro Stephen John.
