CHAMPIONS Kings Arms were beaten for only the third time in the season when Railway and Linnet's John Clayton took the decider in his team's 4-3 win.

The last week of the campaign did see Kings beat Railway in the Gallon contest to add that title to the main one.

The race for the league runners-up prize went right down to the wire.

Cliff Hughes took the vital seventh game to give Woodside WMC a 4-3 win over Boarshaw WMC.

Alkrington went down by the odd set in seven to neighbours Chadderton in a Greater Manchester Super League Division Two clash.

Paul Langford, Jimmy Phillips and Mick Milner picked up the consolation points.

The final of the Middleton Ladies League's Memorial Knockout went the distance.

Sarah Slattery (Joiners) got the better of Jane Widdup (Hebers) 2-1.

The duo received their awards at last Friday's presentation night. Middleton hot-shot Joe Heywood handed out the prizes.
