Jennings defends English crown

ENGLISH welterweight kingpin Michael Jennings puts his crown on the line when he tackles Gavin Downes of Sheffield on Friday's MEN card.

Downes, from the Brendan Ingle camp, is a vastly experienced fighter with a string of inside the distance wins to his name, and he intends to relieve the master boxer from the Collyhurst and Moston Academy of his title.

This promises to be an exciting battle - the boxer (Jennings) against the fighter.

Jennings has a beautiful style and the fans love to see his skills and evasive footwork before he goes to work with his combination punching.

Coach Brian Hughes said: "Michael is in marvellous condition and intends to move up the ladder at the expense of the Yorkshire boxer."
