Teams have the technology to win

MIDDLETON Technology School is over the moon with a triple achievement spanning football and netball.

Footballers in Year 9 stormed to victory in the Rochdale Schools' League under 14s cup final. They beat Cardinal Langley 4-1 at Top o'th Lane.

For the Kenyon Lane school it ended a run of cup final defeats at the hands of Cardinal Langley.

Captain Scott Taylor led from the front by scoring the opening goal. Cardinal levelled, but then came goals from Billy Sutcliffe (2) and Reece Richardson.

Joining the boys in celebration will be the girls under 16 football team which finished runners-up in the Rochdale Girls' League. Their achievement came in the first season of the contest.

The Year 7 girls' netball team played their first season and finished runners-up in the Rochdale Schools League. They won five games, scoring a total of 83 points and conceding only 6.

Two players recently attended trials for Lancashire County.

Emerging netball star Danielle Bloomfield is now training with the high-performance group of the England under 16 netball squad.

At 15, Danielle is one of the younger members of the squad.
