Top title is decided by one goal

19/ 5/2005

LANGLEY Rangers rounded off their Middleton Sunday League Premier Division programme with a 12-1 thumping of Alkrington Dynamos.

But they missed out on the title on goal difference - one goal difference.

To make matters worse they were then beaten 4-1 by Langley Celtic, the team to have pipped them for the championship, in the final of the HPS Challenge Cup.

Celtic have completed a treble.

They also beat Radclyffe Arms 3-2 in the final of the Challenge Shield.

Blackley Alliance, champions of Division One, made it a double celebration by beating Hebers in the final of the Geoff Allen Memorial Trophy.

Blackley Rangers went into their last game of the season with a chance of finishing runners-up in Division Two, but they have to settle for third place after crashing 4-2 at home to FC Radclyffe.
