Round the boards

PERHAPS the biggest shock of the Middleton Men's Thursday League season came back in November when Kings Arms were beaten 6-1 by Boarshaw WMC.
But there was no repeat in last week's return match when Kings won 4-3 to further their title claim.
The Boarshaw boys had some consolation as they took the Gallon.
Pleasant drew 3-3 and a set with Railway and Linnet. That was also the scoreline from the match between White Hart and White House.
Catholic Club maintained their improved form with a 4-3 win over Wilton.
Victoria were beaten 6-1 by Oddfellows B earlier in the season. The return saw the scoreline reversed.
Abi Hardiker won the Middleton Ladies League Division One individual title.
In the final she beat Black Bull's Janet Wolfendale 3-0.
Hardiker, who plays for Kings, beat Michelle Edmunds (Jolly Carter) in a semi-final.
Wolfendale overcame Millbeck's Dot Keogh to reach the final.
Brunswick's Pat Shawcross beat Cock's Carol Hair in the Division Two contest, but only after a 101 sudden-death play-off.
The beaten semi-finalists were Kenyon's Nicola Ramsden and Brunswick's Joan Boardman.
