New home for promotion favourites

21/ 4/2005

MOSTON Cricket Club begin their 116th year on Saturday with a home fixture against Kashmir A from Oldham.

Moston start the season as favourites for promotion back to Division One of the Peregrination Greater Manchester Amateur Cricket League following relegation last season.

The closed season has brought Moston closer to home, as the facility they had enjoyed for three years, at Chorlton Cricket Club, was no longer available.

A close relationship has been formed with Chadderton St Matthew's Cricket Club and this has resulted in Moston being able to use the ground at Kiln Hall Lane in Chadderton Fold.

To celebrate 25 years of playing for Moston, Gary Wilkinson has taken over as secretary and is hot favourite to become the new skipper, although 50-year-old Ray Boggiano is also keen on the job in what could be his last season.

Moston are always on the look out for new players, so if, like many, you have not played since school and fancy another shot at the game give Dave Edwards a ring on 0777 3412904.
