Boys stay on course for title

14/ 4/2005

MIDDLETON BOYS took on Moorside Red hoping to secure the win which would keep them on track for the City of Salford under 11s title.

In the first part of an end-of-season double header both teams had chances during a scrappy first half.

Moorside twice hit the bar and Middleton's Mason Andrews saw a penalty saved.

Middleton upped the pace after the break and Derron Lycett opened the scoring when he burst down the left before hitting the net from 20-yard out.

Andrews doubled the lead soon after and Aaron Turner made the game safe when he scored the third after excellent build-up play. Moorside scored a late consolation goal.

  • BOYS' under sevens travelled to play Moorside Blue and came home five goals to the good.

Middleton led through an early Ellis Lees effort, Bradley Cannon having supplied the ammunition. Allie Jones added a second and Cannon scored goal number three before the break.

Cannon scored his second after the restart and Jack Lockhart, who was named player of the match, bagged the fifth in the closing stages.
