Coaches and “pupils” win honours

Gymnastics

MIDDLETON Gymnastics Club had five of their members pass their Assistant Club Coach award which is the first qualification on the way to becoming an instructor.

Rachael Moores, Caroline Tighe, Laura Hayden, Hayley Carly and Nicky McGuiness successfully completed the examination to strengthen the coaching reserves at the club.

Four of the five girls are pupils at Cardinal Langley school which made a donation towards the cost of the coaching courses.

Last week the club had two male competitors in action at Copley Recreation Centre in Stalybridge.

Sam Donohoe performed solidly to secure a bronze on floor. He was second overall. Ryan Young made a clean sweep by taking gold on floor, gold on vault and gold overall.

Middleton also had eight girls competing. Seven of those made their first appearances in competition.

In the under six section were Kiana Binns, Charlotte Lomax, Grace Collins, Abigail Lawton, Molly Lane and Ellie Donohoe.

Under eights were Caitlin Thomas and Emily Lewis.
