31/ 3/2005
MIDDLETON Boys competed in the annual Manchester Cup which catered for teams from under sevens to under 16s.
The Middleton under 11s were unbeaten in their group and came up against Westbury in the final.
This was a tough match, but excellent performances from Mason Andrews, Dominic Murphy, Ryan Murphy and Aaron Turner helped Middleton to a 2-1 win.
Middleton under eights won all four group games but then suffered from bad luck and went out in the semi-finals.
The ever improving under nines reached their final only to be denied by Reddish Vulcans. Ryan Leeming and Liam Skinner gave tireless displays.
Middleton under 10s had an amazing run to reach the final stages.
Goals from Kyle Camp (2) and Ryan Farrell saw them to a 3-0 semi-final success over Lytham St Annes.
Waterford Villa were the opponents in the final and a goal from Matthew Harris was enough to give Middleton the trophy.
Harris was player of the tournament for Middleton.
