Academy trio in hat-trick glory
17/ 3/2005
BOXERS from the Hopwood Hall Academy scored a hat-trick last weekend.
They were victorious against Welsh national champions.
Luke Gray beat Kyle Durham on a unanimous decision, while Daniel Naylor took a unanimous decision from Aled Edwards.
Christopher Higgs beat four-nations champion Chris Jenkins with a majority verdict.
The three Hopwood fighters are entered in next month's junior ABA championships.
The regional weigh-in for these championships will be held at Hopwood Hall on Sunday.
The Cambridge University boxing team has never looked back since they started to use Hopwood Hall for pre-varsity match training.
Last year Cambridge achieved their first win over Oxford for 14 years, albeit a close 5-4 success.
This time round Cambridge won all nine bouts. The university team will return to Hopwood later in the year for another training camp.
