RADCLYFFE Arms won the battle of the giants when they dumped Langley Rangers out of the Middleton Sunday League's Challenge Shield last weekend.
A goal from Gaskill proved enough to settle the first round tie.
The first round match played in the Geoff Allen Memorial Trophy was also close. Hebers edged Railway 2-1 thanks to strikes from Lister and Brown. Fields was on the mark for Railway.
Marshall bagged a hat-trick as Alkrington Dynamos coasted to a 5-1 win over Oddfellows in the Premier Division.
Booth and Farrey made up the total, with Onley replying.
Goals from McLaughlin and May gave Old David a 2-1 home win over Old Cock Inn in Division One. Vayro claimed the visitors' goal.
Charlestown enjoyed an eight-goal spree against Lamb Inn in a Division One clash. Bates (4), Kirkly, Rieley, Crompton and Collins hit the goals.
