Blackley make it to semis

AFC BLACKLEY returned to winning ways by qualifying for the semi-finals of the Murray Trophy.

The Air Miles Manchester League Division One table toppers travelled to play Stand Athletic and started brightly, going ahead through Hampson who was set up neatly by Garmory.

Blackley increased their lead midway through the first half when Cook's 25-yard drive ended a move he began just inside his own half.

Hampson's second saw the visitors go into the break 3-0 ahead.

Several chances went begging after the restart, but Blackley completed the scoring with their fourth. Lee O'Brien lofted a freekick over the Stand goalkeeper's head.
