Media keep on winning at the top

ABACUS Media maintained their stranglehold on the top of the Lancashire and Cheshire League's Division Two with a 5-1 away win over Eagle.

Eagle were unlucky not to take a first-minute lead when Greg Carty had to make a terrific save.

Media took the lead on five minutes through Anthony Campbell, after good work by Nicky Bracken who made it 2-0 on 27 minutes.

Campbell bagged his second early in the second half after great play by Joe Fraser.

Abacus were in cruise control and looked certain winners when Carty thwarted Eagle with a penalty save.

Bracken bagged his 20th goal of the season and Sam Brown rounded off the scoring after Eagle had claimed a consolation.

Media seconds crushed Gowan Athletic 8-1. Scorers were Liam Sweeney (4), Paul Marshall (2), Neil Jones and Antony Peel.
