JOHN Wellens hit a nifty 15-darter, rounded off with a 108 checkout, as he helped Kings Arms reach the semi-finals of the Middleton Men's Thursday League knockout cup.

Kings beat White Hart 5.5-1.5.

The other three quarter-finals were won by the odd set in seven.

Boarshaw WMC, Victoria and Pleasant made it through at the expense of Railway and Linnet, White House and Tonge Bowling Club.

The first 180 of the season was scored in the Middleton Ladies League.

It came from Lesley Ormrod of Woodman who were beaten 5-2 by Hebers WMC A.

Michelle Edmunds claimed the highest individual score of the season in Division One when her 174 helped Jolly Carter to a 4-3 win over Royal Oak.
