Alliance steam to win over Railway

BLACKLEY Alliance continued steaming toward promotion from Division One of the Middleton Sunday League with a 7-1 home win over Railway.

Butler, C Bennett, A Bennett and Hall were among the goals. Field put Railway on the scoresheet.

Lister and Worsley bagged two each as Hebers ran out 5-3 winners over Royal Oak. Brown made up the home total, with Booth, Ellison and Cain on the mark for Oak.

Only one game was played in the Premier Division and second-placed Langley Celtic were held to a 3-3 home draw by Alkrington Dynamo. Beattie (2) and Tudor netted for Langley.

FC Radclyffe shared four goals with The Charlestown in a Division Two clash. Haslam claimed both for Radclyffe, with Moyes and Christy on the mark for the visitors.

Derbyshire and Hazard hit the net for Cardinal Villa in their Geoff Allen Memorial Trophy first round match against Old David who slammed in six goals.

The two HPS Challenge Cup round two ties played both produced 4-2 scorelines.

Thornton, Ashcroft and Bradley were the scorers as Alliance beat Oddfellows for whom Onley and Abbott scored.

Ward (3) and Lockett saw St Clares to victory over Crown Inn who were kept in the hunt by goals from Smith and Cannon.

Division Two: FC Radclyffe 2, The Charlestown 2.
