Rangers booted out of knockout

20/ 1/2005

LANGLEY Rangers have been expelled from the MEN County Shield.

The County FA's cups committee voted to boot Rangers out of the contest after finding them guilty at a disciplinary meeting of causing the abandonement of their quarter-final tie against Stockport Norris.

That match ended after 50 minutes, with the score at 1-1, after Langley had been reduced to six players.

Four had been sent off and another was injured and had to leave the field.

Langley were also fined £50, but they have not been barred from entry to the knockout in future seasons.

Neither will they be barred from other cup competitions.
