MIDDLETON Boys under eights beat Moorside 4-2 in a Salford League top-of-the-table clash.

Middleton took the lead in the first minute when Michael Corcoran took his chance in a goalmouth scramble.

They dominated the rest of the half but couldn't extend their lead until a couple of goals came in quick succession. Corcoran netted his second after the Moorside keeper had parried a Josh Schofield cross. Schofield extended the lead moments later when he rifled home after being put through by Kane Andrews.

Moorside pulled one back with 10 minutes left, a low drive deceiving keeper Corey Goodey who had been little more than a spectator throughout.

Middleton restored their three-goal advantage with Dylan Entwistle's left-foot volley from outside the box. It ended Moorside's slim hopes of a comeback.

Moorside put together a good move to score a consolation in the dying minutes, but Middleton deserved their victory to end the year on a high note.
