Reds beat the blues

RED beat Blue 2-1 when the two Middleton Boys under eight teams clashed in a Salford League Cup match last weekend.

Blue went close to scoring in the first half through Aaron Goldman and Kane Andrews.

Excitement was at fever pitch in the second half and Red broke the deadlock with a header from a corner.

Blue got back on terms when Kane Andrews rifled the ball home after a shot from Mason Finney had been parried.

The winner came five minutes from time when Red took advantage of a defensive slip. Mike Corcoran went close to an equaliser, but it was not to be for Blue.

  • FOUR goals from Matthew Leith saw Northend Boys under 16s to a 6-0 away win over Whitworth in a Rochdale and Oldham Youth League match.

Mark Hendstock and Luke Holmes made up the total.

Northend under 12s beat Moston Juniors 8-0.

Karl Jones (2), Daniel Hudson (2), Sam Newall, James Jackson, Nathan Martin and an own goal made up the total.
