This lad Khan be as good as Olympic star

OLYMPIC silver medal winner Amir Khan was one of the guests when Fox ABC held its annual dinner show at the Moston Sports and Social Club.

His brother Harroon was in the ring and up against Robbie Brodie from the Golden Gloves club in Liverpool.

Harroon, who represented Bury ABC, dominated. He hit Brodie from every angle in the second round and the referee had no alternative but to stop the contest.

Fox ABC coach Jimmy Lewis reckons Harroon can become every bit as good as his brother.

Fox junior Karl Place got on top in the second round of his bout against Danny Oldham of Bury and Farnworth. His body shots proved too much for Oldham and the referee called a halt.

Carl Sheridan of Fox beat Lee Oldham (Aston Albion) over three hard-fought rounds.

Denton Vassell, the Fox lightweight, made it 11 wins in 12 bouts by knocking out last year's novice ABA champion Frank Collins of Winsford in the second round.

Club-mate Anthony Crolla had his first contest as a senior. His 4x2 bout against John Kay (Arrow Salford) was a joy to watch. The referee raised Crolla's hand after the judges had given him a majority decision.
