Girls polish off the opposition

POLISHED performances from Middleton gymnasts led to success in a recent north west competition.
Middleton Gymnastics Club entered 10 of their members in the event at Preston's West View Leisure Centre and all gave performances to be proud of.
Two from the Langley based club brought home medals. They were Amelia Garlick and Nicky McGuinness who gave strong showings throughout, especially in the floor discipline.
Amelia competed in the eight and under section, and a new floor routine was instrumental in gaining her the silver medal, and second place overall.
Nicky McGuinness won an overall gold. The 14-year old completed stylish and elegant routines throughout the weekend, winning gold medals in the individual floor and beam events, as well as a bronze on the bars.
Coach Glenn Prendergast said: "All the gymnasts should be commended for their efforts. I was delighted with their performances."
