BILLY KEENAN hasn't played much competitive darts of late.

Indeed, it's the best part of two decades since he consistently plied his trade on the oche in and around Middleton.

He might never have been away, though, as he raced around the board in 12 deadly arrows while playing for the Cotton Tree against the Kings Arms last Thursday night.

His win was consolation for the Tree, beaten 5-2. It was the third win in as many matches for the Kings who, with the Pleasant (Blackley), are the only unbeaten team in the league. The Pleasant also won 5-2 against Boarshaw Working Men's Club.

The only two sides without a win, Oddfellows B and Catholic Club, both went down 6-1 last week. White House gained their first victory against the Oddfellows B while the Railway and Linnet beat the Catholic Club.

The Joiners gained their first success of the season, too, by a convincing 6-0 and a set against the White Hart and the Tonge Bowling Club won for the second successive week by the odd game in seven. Last week's win came against the Wilton.

In the Middleton Ladies League, the Kings Arms made it three wins on the trot, their latest success coming against Hebers Club B by four games to three.
