EXPELLED - The under 15s team.
County FA asked to sort out cup poser
24/ 6/2004
A YOUTH football team from Moston has been told to hand back a trophy won a few weeks ago.
They have also been expelled from the Bury and Radcliffe Junior League.
These are the claims made by an angry club official who is now hoping the Manchester County FA can come up with a solution.
A hearing has been fixed for 16 July.
Francis Egan told The Guardian that the under 15s team, now based in Oldham, but formerly known as Belden Red Star had already decided to quit the league when informed they had been thrown out.
He said: "The lads won the Lennox Memorial Cup and we were shocked when the league asked us to send the trophy back to them immediately as we had been expelled."
"It seems someone connected with our club had been accused of using foul language to a league official on the day of the final."
"We strongly deny there was any foul language used, and we would be willing to take a lie test to prove it."
"If they didn't want us to have the cup why did they give it to us in the first place."
A league official was not available for comment, but Mr Egan later said the County FA had been informed of the situation.
