Football title up for grabs - again

24/ 6/2004

THE BASSA Football League championship can now be settled.

Admiral protested to the Manchester County FA that the league had acted unfairly in ordering their vital league match against Priory to be replayed.

But they have lost their appeal.

The original match was abandoned with Admiral leading 1-0. An FA investigation found neither team was to blame, and that the abandonment was caused by "outside interference."

A BASSA League spokesman said: "We must now fix a date for the replay, but this may prove difficult due to Admiral's stated reluctance to play the game. If they fail to show they could lose the title by default."

The league's annual general meeting will be held on Tuesday, start 8pm, at the Talk of the Town, Delauneys Road, Crumpsall.

The league is accepting applications for next season. Clubs wishing to enter the league will be offered a pitch. Payments for the season are on a monthly basis to help clubs pay as they play.
