MIDDLETON Boys under eights lifted the North Bury Junior League's Sporting Cup on Saturday when they beat Roach Dynamos at Siddal Moor in Heywood.

Boys were rewarded for their early effort when George Shaw put them in front.

Roach fought back in the second half and only a great save by Philip Tompos denied them.

Middleton then added to their tally with strikes from Ben Durrant (3), Liam Skinner and Nathan Capps.

Boys reached the final with a 6-2 win over Rossendale. The scorers were George Shaw (2), Scott Howarth (2), Tom Jackson and Ben Durrant.

The team was Liam Skinner, Scott Howarth, Tom Howarth, Ryan Leeming, Philip Tompos, Ben Durrant, George Shaw, Nathan Capps, Tom Jackson, and coaches John Shaw and Steve Epstein.
