THE four-man team representing Our Lady Social Club, Langley, lifted the inaugural Associated Church Club national darts title on Sunday.

They beat St Joseph's (Worksop) in the final played in Newton-le-Willows.

Tony Jones, Darren Latham, Steve Service and Eric Quinn chalked up a 4-2 success to take the £1,000 first prize.

They had earlier inflicted a 4-0 defeat on St John's (Banbury) and beaten St Joseph's (Wallasey) in a thriller.

In a quarter-final they beat Sacred Heart (Kirkby) 4-2 and their route to the final was completed by a 4-1 semi-final win over Sacred Heart (Wythenshawe).

Former Lancashire ace Jones was thrilled with the team's success. He said: "Some of the games were tough. Darren, Steve, Eric and myself did well, but I must mention the other four lads signed on who supported us throughout the competition."

"This has been a real team effort and the whole of the squad should take credit."
