Hollins team are top dogs

OLYMPIC fever gripped Springhill High School in Rochdale as eight teams from estates in Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale battled it out in a series of events.
Hollins (Middleton) came out on top in a 'mini-olympics' with Freehold and Spotland close behind as children aged from 10 to 14 displayed their sporting prowess. The sports were a mixture of team and individual events.
They were organised by David Butterworth and Michelle Whitehead from RMBC's sports development section, as part of a community cohesion initiative which aims to bring children together.
"The event ran very smoothly and was a massive success," said David Butterworth. "It went exactly as we hoped and the most pleasing aspect of the evening was when all estates congratulated Hollin on their success."
The other estates taking part were Sparrow Hill, Darnhill, Balderstone, Greave and Turf Hill.
