College lads get England call

TWO PLAYERS from the Hopwood Hall College Rugby League Academy have been selected for England.

Miles Greenwood and Martin Ryan were called up for an international friendly against France this week. They have also been included in the England squad for the home international series in the summer.

The two 16-year-olds have impressed Hopwood coach Matt Calland with their application and determination. He said: "It shows what can happen when lads get full-time training on what is an excellent course.

"If they put the effort in they can reap the rewards. Miles is an outstanding prospect at stand-off and Martin is a powerful defender who is attracting interest from several professional clubs. They have worked extremely hard and deserve their international recognition."

Pacy fullback Lee Forsyth, who is on the pre-service course at the college, but plays for the team, has also been selected.
