Crolla success

ANTHONY Crolla of Blackley's Fox club took on Liverpudlian Paul Edwards in a rivalry-deciding bout.

The fight, at Orrell ballroom in Liverpool, was the third contest between the two highly rated 17-year olds.

Each had a win over the other.

Edwards tried to push forward, but he was met time after time by quality straight punches and Crolla took his first breather knowing he was ahead.

The second round continued in the same vein, and Crolla was in complete command, using his feet to avoid the attacks from Edwards.

Edwards began the final round the stronger but Crolla's fitness and know-how ensured he was never in any real danger, and he was awarded the decision by the judges.
